We heard it back in 2006 when the GT500 came back to life; " These are the Good Old Days" of power and speed.
Think about this for a minute. SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY HORSEPOWER!
While we're seeing another hot marketplace for muscle cars of the late 60s and early 70s, the fact is that the power and performance of that era pales compared to what today's technology gives us.; Enter the 2020 Shelby GT500.
SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY FREAKING HORSEPOWER! In a M U S T A N G!
For a little perspective, the 1969 Boss 429 produced 375 horsepower and 450 pound feet of torque. And, are you ready for this?
0-60 mph: 5.3 sec, quarter mile: 12.3 sec @ 112 mph, 60-0 mph: NA ft (Motor Trend, April 1970, test car engine blueprinted, suspension/tire setup for B/Stock drag racing)
The 2020 GT500? Mid-3 second 0-60. Sub-11 second 1/4 mile. From a 5.2 liter engine!;
You have to love technology! Speaking of which, Tremec's 7-speed DCT auto trans can shift as quickly as 100 milliseconds. For the record, you and I can't do that. You may not be in love with the Explorer/Fusion/Lincoln gear selector but one whack of the throttle and a couple of head snapping shifts and you'll forget all about the look.
So, did we mention SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY MADE-IN-AMERICA HORSEPOWER?
We'll be ready when you are with all the awesome parts and accessories you've come to depend on from JLT Performance!
