The camo is off and the 2021 Mach 1 sees the light of day. Since it appears as though Mustang will be the only Ford passenger car after 2021, they're once again banking their future on historic names.
“Mach 1 has a special place in Mustang history, and it’s time for this special edition to claim the top spot in our 5.0-liter V8 performance lineup and reward our most hardcore Mustang enthusiasts who demand that next level of power, precision and collectability,” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Icons. “Like the original, the all-new Mustang Mach 1 will be true to its heritage, delivering great looks and as the most track-capable 5.0-liter Mustang ever.”
While it certainly makes good NA power and the choice of the GT350 derived 6-speed manual or sport-programmed auto 10 will open it up to a new group of enthusiasts, Ford makes it clear that this isn't the boulevard bully of 1969-70 with their 351's and 428's. This is a course-capable pony that will have taken home schooling from the newest Shelby GT500.
After all, horse races don't happen in a straight line now, do they?
